Thrust Area
  • Indian Democracy and its Institutions: Undertaking research, conducting seminars and interactions with academicians and members of civil society to understand the challenges and problems of Indian democracy.

  • Policy Research: The research will mainly focus on analysis of public policies, including impact of globalization and liberalization on the poor and the social groups. Besides the Centre will study the impact of Special policies for social groups like Affirmative action and other interventionist programmes in economic, educational, political, and social spheres in India and other countries; civil society   policy initiatives, process of policy formulation, implementation of policies and the constrains encounter in attending the desire goals.

  • Structure and implications of stratification: Empirical research on forms and dynamics of stratification based on religion, caste etc. Empirical research on the implications of economic and market discrimination

  • Collective Actions:  Research on forms of collective actions by deprived groups and others sections of civic society against discrimination and deprivation; environmental issues; focus on the  study of political parties,  electoral processes, extent and nature of political participation within the society.
